Red Pepper Hummus

Mmmmm I love hummus! I also prefer to make my own because I know exactly what’s going in it, nothing but wholesome fresh ingredients!  Here’s a recent batch I made with some added red pepper, give it a try and let me know what you think.

  • 500 grams pre-soaked chick peas
  • 1/2 red pepper
  • splash of olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 1 tbls tahini
  • pinch of salt and pepper

Literally just put all the ingredients together in your blender/Nutribullet and blitz until it is the consistency you like.  This time round I used a tin of pre-soaked chick peas, but in the past I’ve often bought dry garbanzo beans and soaked them overnight.  Both work great and if you can by a jar/tin ready to go it just saves a bit of pre planning!

When done, transfer to your serving dish or mason jar and pour a little olive oil over the top to seal in your flavours.   I froze half of the hummus in a container thinking it would last a while; two days later and it’s already gone!  Also made some awesome flat bread to eat it with and the recipe for that will follow shortly I promise.
